Some of the responsibilities include:
1. Assists in collecting a thorough physical assessment and collects information on the emergency record.
2. Assists in identifying patient needs at the time of admission and ongoing
3. Provides an ongoing assessment within time frame determined by policy, which accurately reflects overt physiological and psychosocial needs of patients
4. Contributes to identifying patient problems and ongoing assessment.
5. Assesses, evaluates and documents patient response/outcome
6. Documents significant events or change in condition.
7. Administers medication prescribed by physician according to policy. Knows actions, indications, contraindications, precautions, adverse reactions, dosage and route of administration on all drugs before administering to a patient. Verifies against medication order
8. Gives exchange report to other health care personnel providing accurate and complete information on each patient at the change of shift, when transferring patient to another area/unit, at intervals during the shift.
9. Performs basic paramedic skills completely to include, but not limit to: I & O, Vital Signs, specimen/culture collection, dressing applications and changes, oxygen administration and airway management, personal, hygiene, blood glucose monitoring, tracheal suctioning, catheterizations, chest tube set up, assessments, and splint application.
10. Recognizes, evaluates, and intervenes appropriately in life-threatening situations.
11. Recognizes variance of diagnostic test, vital signs, and assessments that should be reported to the physician and notifies the RN and physician in time appropriate to variance.
12. Recognizes Hemodynamic changes and arrhythmias that should be reported to the physician and RN. Does this in a timely manner.
13. Performs/demonstrates EKG's, pulse ox, intubations, IV pump management, and level I set up.
14. Initiates routine unit activities such as stocking, ordering, cleaning, supplies, linen, code cart checks, and refrigerator checks as needed.
Position requires graduation from an approved paramedic teaching program, current certification as a Paramedic in the State of Georgia, current certification in both basic and advanced Cardiac Life Support

1. Demonstrates knowledge of legal and ethnical issues and delivers care that is safe and within scope of practice
2. Working knowledge of Paramedic techniques, practices, and skills
3. Ability to plan and evaluate nursing care
4. Ability to understand and follow detailed oral and written instructions and to be capable of maintaining nursing records and charts
5. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, patients, families, and physicians
