Job Details JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the supervisor secures, maintains and ensures organization of all pathology cases and slides. Secures complete pathology litigation cases at request of General Legal Counsel. Acquires authorization for release of pathology materials to be utilized in legal cases. Manages internal and external research project requests and charges. Performs histology laboratory functions such as: staining, coverslipping and labeling prepared microscopic slides and distributes prepared microscope slides to pathologists or to appropriate areas for interpretation. Reviews requisitions and patient reports. Performs data entry of patient and specimen information. Maintains equipment. Reviews paperwork, organizes and delivers pathology cases to pathologists. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Requires candidate to have three years experience in a healthcare environment or legal environment to include clerical and customer service responsibilities. Demonstated knowledge of basic sciences, computer skills, medical terminology normally obtained through college course work. Ability to interact with all levels of the organization, including physicians and legal counsel. Must be detail oriented to ensure correct specimen identification and file organization. Typical physical demands include manual dexterity to operate PC equipment and laboratory instruments. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and meet stringent deadlines. Experience to include the organization of complex materials and the ability to function independently. Knowledge of computer operations, including database functions and Microsoft Word, sufficient to accurately enter, retrieve and organized data, create and generate reports. Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent customer service and organizational skills.

Minimum three years of successful experience in a healthcare or legal environment to include clerical and customer service responsibilities.Requires manual dexterity and visual acuity when handling slides, utilizing instrumentation and performing database manipulation. Ability to safely handle potentially infectious patient specimens, carcinogenic substances, and other hazardous materials to which they may be exposed.
